KRO bar and restaurant’s rowing team stormed to second place at this year’s Salford Charity Dragon Boat Festival.
Complete with Viking hats and sunscreen, a 17-strong team that included KRO owner, Mark Ruby, and Foundation’s business development manager, David Marnell, took part in the event at Salford Quays on Sunday 20th June. Despite the team’s lack of experience, they clocked up some impressive times during the qualifying rounds and were pipped to the post by just 0.51 of a second in the grand final.
KRO owner Mark Ruby commented: “None of us have ever been involved in dragon boat racing before but it has been a great day and we’ve all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, despite just missing out on first place!"
KRO kindly nominated Foundation as its charity of choice meaning that all of the sponsorship money raised by the team will be used to support creative carbon-reduction projects right here in the Northwest.
David Marnell added: “On behalf of Foundation I would like to thank KRO for all of their support.”
